The U.S. Senate has passed an extension for PPP through August 8. It now requires approval from the House of Representatives.
With more than $130 Billion remaining unused,it would create new programs to expand uses for the funds, such as allowing Chambers of Commerce to apply.
Senators Ted Cruz,Tim Scott and Marco Rubio (Chair, Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship) introduced the bill. Senator Rubio was quoted as stating “The Paycheck Protection Program has helped millions of small businesses and nonprofits across a wide range of industries endure the coronavirus pandemic. It is critical that nonprofits designed to support the economic success of local communities survive, including Chambers of Commerce and destination-based organizations that promote tourism.”
