Day 28 – Diamond Hearts Art Studio, Gardner

Day 28 of our 30 Members in 30 Days promotion has us buzzing with inspiration as we met Nancy and Sean Bray from Diamond Hearts Art Studio!

Nancy and Sean, a husband and wife team, embarked on their creative journey 4 years ago after being inspired by a simple YouTube video. From that spark of inspiration, they’re now gearing up to open their very own Gardner studio and classroom this June!

What’s on the agenda? Classes for all ages, dollar store crafts, BYOB art sessions, wine tastings, artist signings, live music, poetry readings, and so much more!

Day 26 – Bee’s Boards, Templeton

Day 26 of our 30 Members in 30 Days promotion!

Today, we visited Bee & Paul from Bees Boards and got an exclusive view of their workshop!

Their journey began during the pandemic, with the idea of restoring an old butcher block in their home, leading them to discover the fascinating world of edge grain, end grain, and live edge slabs. Hooked on the craft, they transformed their home garage into a full-fledged wood shop.

From cutting boards, this self-taught husband and wife team has expanded to offer a HUGE variety of customizable products. Their products include cribbage boards, mancala boards, solitaire boards, kitchen goods, and home décor – even tabletop cornhole boards and other ideas are in the works!

Day 18 – Great Wolf Lodge, Fitchburg

Today, we had an absolute blast at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg! We were thrilled to meet with the General Manager, Alex Matthews, and Director of Sales, Paula Lawrence. They graciously gave us an exclusive tour of this amazing destination, from the conference center to the thrilling water park!

Great Wolf Lodge is packed with activities for the whole family! From the Build a Bear Workshop to the captivating Magic Quest scavenger hunt, there’s never a dull moment. Plus, they’ve just added a new Virtual Reality game and an indoor obstacle course for even more excitement! And let’s not forget about the multiple dining options and TWO water parks, complete with platinum trained lifeguards ensuring everyone’s safety.

The staff at Great Wolf Lodge truly stole the show with their warmth and hospitality. Every member had a smile on their face, making us feel right at home. It’s clear that happiness is contagious here!

Though we wished we could stay all day, duty called, and we had to head back to the office. But our visit left us with memories to last a lifetime!

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting Athol Savings Bank in Winchendon, MA, and catching up with their incredible team! Day 14 – Joint Operations, Gardner

Today marks day 14 of our journey in our “30 Members in 30 Days” promotion! We had the pleasure of visiting our newest Chamber Member, Joint Operations Cannabis Dispensary, (Joint Operations Mass) nestled in Gardner’s Timpany Crossroads.

During our visit, Regional Manager, Daniel Lencioni, graciously led us on a tour of their stunning new location. We were blown away by the educational experience they provided, diving deep into their array of products and their effects. It’s clear they prioritize customer education and satisfaction, treating everyone with the same level of care and attention.

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting Mack Prototype, Inc. at their Gardner location on Main Street!

We caught up with President Greg Cebular and the incredible team who’ve been driving innovation since 1999! This year, we’re thrilled to announce Greg joining our Board of Directors!

Day 11 – Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, Inc., Gardner

Today, we had the privilege of visiting the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center, Inc. and meeting with the Executive Director, Stephanie Marchetti. Located at 268 Central Street Gardner, this center serves as a home to 12 veterans, providing vital support and resources.

Since its inception, MVOC has grown from a phone in City Hall hallway to a 6-building facility, with two more in the works! Their dedication to veterans is unparalleled, offering a range of services including housing programs, financial assistance, mental health support, benefits counseling, and more.

For over 40 years, MVOC has been a beacon of hope for veterans and their families in North Central Massachusetts. Annually supporting over 700 veterans and conducting over 1,000 counseling sessions, their impact is undeniable.

MVOC’s recent feature on George to the Rescue showcased their transformation of the food and clothing pantry into a warm, inviting space. Through partnerships with food pantries and the United Way, they ensure that no family goes without during the holidays.

Today’s visit was truly eye-opening, witnessing firsthand the incredible work MVOC does for our veterans. We’re immensely proud to have them as both a neighbor and Chamber Member since 1987!

 

Day 10 – Town of Hubbardston

Today we visited with Town Administrator, Nate Boudreau and Select Board, Vice Chair, Katie Young from the Town of Hubbardston!

Did you know? Hubbardston joined the Chamber in May 2023 and they’ve got an amazing things happening!

The Hubbardston Fair is on June 8th at Curtis Recreation Field! Free admission & parking, with tons of food, shopping, and music. Fun for all ages! Vendor applications open – email hubbardston250@gmail.com to secure your spot.

They just completed their first Citizens Academy – residents delved into the inner workings of town government and operations over 8 weeks. They even received certificates commemorating their completion!

Hubbardston is also making strides in digital equity with a recent grant to address internet access and connectivity issues through the MBI Municipal Digital Equity Planning Program.

Plus, they’ve launched the inaugural Hubbardston Citizen of the Year Award – nominations open until April 25!

Fun Fact: Hubbardston was originally called the “Northeast Quarter” and became a town in 1767, named after Thomas Hubbard, one of the original proprietors.

Day 9 – Workers Credit Union, Gardner

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting the newly renovated Workers Credit Union branch in Gardner, where we caught up with AVP Branch Manager Randi Lawrence and AVP Area Manager Linda Colby. The Gardner branch, one of sixteen, was the first to receive this fantastic makeover, bringing the teller line back to their lobby and enhancing the drive-through experience!

Did you know that Workers Credit Union has been a proud member of our Chamber since 1981? Talk about dedication to the community!

Their story dates back to the early 1900s when John Suominen, a visionary and compassionate leader, saw the need to support fellow immigrants from Finland. He championed the establishment of a credit union focused on economic welfare and, in 1914, Workers Credit Union was born in Fitchburg, MA!

Day 8 – The Gardner Museum, Gardner

Day 8 of our 30 Members in 30 Days Promotion took us to the The Gardner Museum!

Today, Marion Knoll, the museum’s coordinator, treated us to a glimpse of the fascinating Simplex Grinnell collection and the captivating art by Mark Lore currently on display and available for purchase until May 26.

Housed in the historic Levi Heywood Memorial Library building, designed by Fuller and Delano of Worcester and completed in 1886, it stands as a magnificent example of Richardson Romanesque architecture. Day 6 – Catholic Charities Worcester County, Gardner

Today, we visited with Supervisor, Carol and Scheduler, Maureen from Catholic Charities Worcester County. Founded in 1951 and joining our Chamber family in 2021, Catholic Charities serves as a beacon of hope in Worcester County.

They’re currently hiring for Home Health Aides and Homemakers in the area, so if you’re looking for a fulfilling career, check out their opportunities!

In the past year alone, their impact has been astounding:

– 72,372 individuals supported at their food pantries

– 244,320 diapers and wipes donated to families in need

– 853 kids/teens equipped with backpacks and school supplies

– 2,860 families stabilized with rental and utility assistance

– 18,144 items in their clothing closets found new homes

– 10,530 families received hygiene kits and products

– 171 people served in need of substance use treatment

Day 5 – Maki Building Center, Gardner

Today, we visited Maki Building Centers located at 513 Betty Spring Road in Gardner, where we caught up with their COO, Jim Leblanc. Did you know Maki’s is not just your ordinary store? They’ve got it all – from a lumber yard, custom cabinetry, building supplies, tools, paint, hardware, to their very own manufacturing facility producing doors, windows and fencing right onsite!

Day 4 – Boyer’s Buggy Bath, Gardner

Today, we visited with Jay Boyer at Boyer’s Buggy Bath. This family-owned business joined our Chamber in 2023 and has been shining since 2006, catering to a wide range of vehicles from motorcycles and side by side to industrial trucks and even campers.

What sets them apart? Both Jason and his wife Crystal are certified in ceramic applications, guaranteeing a show-quality level of interior and exterior auto detailing at prices that won’t break the bank!

Day 3 – Gardner Redevelopment Authority

Today, we had the pleasure of visiting the Gardner Redevelopment Authority at Gardner City Hall.

We met with the GRA team, including Executive Director, Trevor Beauregard and Executive Coordinator, Christine Fucile, who have dedicated an impressive 11 years to the GRA. We also had the pleasure of visiting Economic Development Coordinator, Amber LaBonte, who joined the team in January, and meeting Assistant Director, Evan Cudmore (not pictured) who started just last month.

The GRA is working on numerous projects to enhance our community, such as Maki Park, the rear Main Street Parking lot, and creating a space for food trucks, among others. Their dedication is truly commendable!

Fun fact: The GRA has been a member of the Greater Gardner Chamber of Commerce since 1993, with membership stickers dating back to 2001 on their entrance! Today, we were thrilled to witness the addition of 2024 to their collection of Chamber stickers. It’s amazing to see their ongoing commitment to our Community!

Day 1 – Wachusett Business Incubator, Gardner

Today marks the beginning of our 30 Members in 30 Days campaign, and we kicked it off with a bang!  

We had the opportunity to visit Wachusett Business Incubator at 31 Lake Street, Suite 500 in Gardner. While there, we had the pleasure of chatting with none other than Magnus Carlberg himself!
